Joining The Farmers Club couldn't be easier. Application for membership is invited from those who are either directly engaged in farming or landowning, or who are involved in industries or occupations that provide support to farming.

There are four classes of membership, according to place of residence, place of business and age of the applicant, as detailed on the membership information and proposal form. These classes are 'Country', 'Town', 'Under 30', 'Overseas' and 'Family'.

All applicants must fill in the proposal form included on this website, give details of their type of farming or involvement in an ancillary industry and have their application proposed and seconded by Club members who know the applicant personally.

Family Membership of The Farmers Club

The Club Rules state that the Committee may permit spouses and members' sons and daughters under 18 to enjoy such of the privileges of membership of the Club (whether accompanied by such member or not) as the Committee may specify from time to time on payment of such additional subscription as may be laid down under the Rules.

The privileges of membership as currently specified by the Committee are :

  1. Where an applicant applies for Family Membership the only full member of the Club is that applicant. The wording of the Rule only gives the other members of the family "such privileges as the Committee may lay down".
  2. Only the elected member himself or herself has the right to vote on Club matters, to put his or her name forward for election to the Committee, to apply for tickets for Club events or to nominate candidates for membership of either the Club or its Committee.
  3. The other members of the family are entitled to use all the facilities of the Club, both in Whitehall Court and at the Royal Show, whether accompanied by the full member or not.
  4. One copy of the Journal is sent to the member and his or her spouse jointly.
  5. Where there is a Family Membership and the full member dies, the spouse is, if he or she wishes, entitled to become a full member in place of the deceased member.
  6. When sons and daughters reach the age of 18 they must, if they wish to continue their association with the Club, apply for membership as Under 30s.
  7. The spouse and any children under 18 of the full member may represent the Club at sports events or play at sports meeting that may be arranged amongst Club members.
  8. Members over the age of 65 and with 20 years' membership are entitled to a 30% reduction in Subscription Fees.
  9. Members should notify the Club by 1 November of the current year if claiming this reduction with confirmation of date of birth.

Members requesting a receipt for their subscriptions must forward a SAE to the Membership Secretary.

The Membership Secretary can be contacted on 020 7925 7102 or emailed at membership@thefarmersclub.com
