The Farmers Club Golf Programme for 2017 can be viewed, printed and downloaded here or in our newly created Club Golf Page

The golfing members of The Farmers Club again enjoyed a full programme of events in 2016.  Matches have been played in many different parts of the country ranging from Scotland to Kent, Gloucestershire, Yorkshire and the last match of the season at Seaton Carew, Teesside.

The Club Championship was played at Blackwell in Worcestershire when 34 members and guests competed for The Farmers Club Putter (Men), The Eric Wilson Trophy (Ladies) and The John Roberts Cup (Men over 70), won this year by Bob Golds, Penny Taylor and Val Powell respectively. The guest prize was won by David Gibbons.

Our Autumn event was played over two days on the fine courses at Ashridge and Berkhamsted, when over 30 members and guests competed.  The winning teams were John Gittins, Denis Skinner and Kechil Gilchrist at Ashbridge; and Bob Pickles, Fay Dilliway-Parry and Martin Shaw at Berkhamsted.

As this report indicates, golf is an important element of the many events open to Members of The Farmers Club and I would encourage any Member who has not so far registered as interested in the golf activities to make contact with Martin Shaw, our event’s organiser at (martin.edwardswale@gmail.com) and he will add your name to the circulation list.

I would like to record my grateful thanks to Martin for the impeccable manner in which he takes care of the many detailed administration tasks necessary to efficiently run the golf section.

Finally, my thanks go to all our golfing Members who participated in matches, the Club Championship, and our Autumn Meeting, and who have given me such wonderful support during this, my first year as Captain.  I look forward to the 2017 season.
