Gourmet visit to Tuscany

Food and wine focus for Club visit to Tuscany this October

Following a most successful visit to France, we are once again working in partnership with 'Uncorked Wine Tours', to offer a Food & Wine Tour to Tuscany this autumn. The four-day trip will depart on Tuesday 20th October and return to the UK on Friday 23rd October.

The southern Tuscan hilltop town of Montalcino, bounded by the Orcia and Ombrone rivers will be the base for the trip. Famous for the production of full-flavoured and long-lived Brunello wines, the tour will include visits and tastings at key producers as well as a ½ day at an organic farm, where will we learn about the farming of the Cinta Senese and hopefully witness the olive harvest in full swing!

So whether it is learning the history of Brunello winemaking from the founding family at Biondi Santi, walking amongst beehives in the biodynamic vineyards of Pian dell’Orinio or discovering different types of Pecorino at a tasting with a local cheese producer, we hope you will benefit from hearing about their methods and traditions and of course, enjoy sampling the final product!

The group will be accompanied by an experienced English-speaking guide, from arrival at Florence airport until departure. Accommodation has been booked at the 3*, family-run, Hotel Il Giglio, located in the historic centre of Montalcino, near the clock tower of Palazzo dei Priori.

Dinners and lunches will be three-courses and include wine, water and coffee. Special dietary requirements can be catered for but could result in an extra charge. Wines tasted at wine producers are chosen by the wineries themselves and are likely to be recent vintages.
