The New Year issue of the Farmers Club Journal – now arriving with members – provides a profile of Herefordshire farmer and rural entrepreneur Nick Helme, the Club’s Chairman for 2019.
Further articles report on a growing sense of unease around Defra’s lack of food and farm policy at the Oxford Farming Conference, an insightful look into property development, on-farm preparations for Brexit, Lord Trees’ views on farming given at the Club’s House of Lords Luncheon, a golf update and the Ladies Luncheon with antiques expert Kate Bliss.
Also covered are Chef’s visit to a premium poultry producer, the Under 30s farm walk in Northern Ireland and the experiences of the first beneficiaries of the Jill Willows Travel Bursary, who attended the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth conference in Alberta, Canada.
Looking to the future the Journal details a large number of events, including a wonderful St George’s Day Luncheon at the Club, Receptions at the Balmoral Show and the Royal Highland Show, a special Club visit to the Chelsea Flower Show, and amazing visits planned for California in the USA and Jerez in Spain – details and/or application forms included in the Journal.
