CHILE was the destination for the Farmers Club’s 2016 overseas visit, with three groups venturing to South America in late January and early February.
Pictured here, at the top of a climb above Lake Bertrand in Patagonia are (back row left to right) Richard Janaway, Fiona and Martin Shirley, Lucy and Brian Lock, Margaret and Nick Hodgson, (front row left to right): Hughie Arbuthnott, Sheila Janaway and Toby Warren.
Each eleven day tour was designed with originality and an eye for detail, staying in charming family run hotels and secluded lodges. Delicious food, exquisite wines and an array of activities through spectacular and extraordinary scenery took members to lesser known areas, with opportunities for walking, riding, fishing, mountain biking and, for the more adventurous, white water rafting and swimming in the icy waters of Lake General Carerra!
Led and escorted by Hughie Arbuthnott, the itinerary included Santiago’s vibrant nightlife; Colchagua Valley wine country beneath the Andes; Curico Valley; and and the lakes, mountains and rivers of little visited Northern Patagonia.
