TICKETS for the Farmers Club New Year’s Eve party, with the best views of the amazing fireworks display over the River Thames, are amongst the most coveted of any Farmers Club event.
This year was no exception, with a staggering 600-plus applications entered into in a ballot for the 90 available places. “The atmosphere was very special, with members, their families and guests enjoying the celebrations,” said Club Manager Virginia Masser.
On arrival at 7:45pm guests were served a glass of Prosecco and a selection of cocktail bites prepared by our Head Chef Paul Hogben and his team including: Pulled Pork Whiskey and Honey Bites; Hot Smoked Salmon Fritters; a Pea and Mint Shot; and a Sweet Pepper and Basil Short Bread. The main meal, again all specially created by Head Chef Paul Hogben included a first course of an Assiette of Duck, then a delicate Lobster Consommé, followed by a wonderfully tender venison from Kent – with chopped snails (not served to those with a shell fish allergy!), then a Clementine Flummery and finally, Chef’s Treats consisting of Whisky and Chocolate Truffles, Mango Marshmallows and Blackberry Pastilles. It was a very special meal.
With a glass of champagne in hand everyone moved to the terrace for the unique fireworks display – without doubt the best seat in the House! Hearty bacon and sausage rolls followed at 12:30, with the bar remaining open until 1am and the party continued into the early hours.
“It was an outstanding evening, and the staff really pulled out all the stops to make it a very special event,” Virginia added.
The plaudits after were great to hear (and see in the Suggestions Book), and say much for the progress that has been made in the recent past – particularly with the food served.
