The Winter edition of the Farmers Club Journal is now published, profiling key farming issues and Club news, including a detailed report on a special Farmers Club seminar held in central London looking at who owns UK farmland and whether they are managing it to best effect (p6)

Our cover story is a round-up of thought-provoking messages from the World Expo 2015 event in Milan, where the theme was Feeding the planet: energy for life (p12)

The issue also contains an article looking at lessons to be learned from US approaches to cow welfare, following a visit there by Dr Nicola Blackie, funded by a Farmers Club Charitable Trust bursary.

Further reports consider: the growing role of cover crops on arable farms (p10); the RASE renaissance at Stoneleigh Park (p14); Britain’s best farm manager and Club member Tim Hassell (p17), value-added food statistics (p18); latest rural crime figures (p18); the Club’s stunning Harvest Festival (p19); the Under 30s Autumn Dining evening with Baroness Trumpington; and an Under 30s member’s reflections on soil care in Suffolk (p20).
