The U-30's section aims to promote the Farmers Club to younger people. It also provides an opportunity for them to meet other people with a farming background.

This section of the club is broadly autonomous, run by a committee of U30 members. Anyone can join, as long as they are employed in agriculture or one of the ancillary industries.

Members are involved at all levels of the agricultural 'food chain' and include:

  • farmers and farm managers
  • land agents
  • accountants
  • consultants marketing and sales professionals (dealing with both multiple retailers and the supply of inputs to the farming industry)

The world of agriculture is small, and there is a good chance you will know one of the current U30 members, particularly if you have attended agricultural college.

Why join?

If you are involved in agriculture or any of it's ancillary industries then the Farmers Club U30 section has something offer you:

  • Club Facilities. As a member you will have access to the facilities at the Farmers Club, which is situated in the heart of London, about two minutes walk from the Embankment Tube Station. Overlooking the Thames, the Club has 53 bedrooms (mostly en-suite), a bar, lounge, dining room, and meeting rooms. It is an excellent base for any trip to London, whether it's for business or pleasure.
  • The Club also has a permanent pavilion at the Royal Showground, Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, which is open during the period of the Royal Show in mid-summer. As a U30 member you can start your visit to the show with a cooked breakfast in the dining area of the Pavilion, while at the end of the day you can rest your feet and enjoy a cool drink in the Pavilion gardens.
  • Weekend visits. Each spring and autumn the U30s organise a weekend event. The format is usually the same, with fours visits between Friday afternoon and Sunday morning, and plenty of time for socialising in between. Recent events have included:
    • Dublin including visits to the Irish National Stud, Jameson's Distillery, Trinity College and the Guinness Brewery.
    • Hampshire including visits to Cowdray Park and the John Lewis Partnership's Leckworth Estate.
    • Hereford and Worcester including visits to a cider maker and to the home of 'Boycey', of Only Fools and Horses fame.
  • Dining evenings. There are two dining evenings held annually. They take place in early spring and in the autumn. Held at the Club on a Friday evening, members enjoy a meal prepared by the talented Club catering team, followed by an after -dinner speaker.

The profile and contacts of the club have meant that the calibre of speakers is high and has, in the past, included Archie Norman MP, Sir Peter de Billiere, and Lord Carter, when Government Chief Whip in the House of Lords.

The location of the Club means there is plenty of opportunity to extend these evenings well after the Club bar is closed!

Recently dining evenings have been followed by a visit in London on the Saturday morning. Destinations have included The Globe Theatre, The London Eye and Young's Brewery.

Other events include an annual BBQ and drinks party at The Royal Show and informal ‘get togethers’ at The Farmers Club.

Diary of Events and Under 30 contacts listed in ‘Members Area’.
