Lord Henry Plumb of Coleshill DL

On the eve of the recent Easter weekend, many of you, like me, will have been informed of the sad passing of Lord Henry Plumb, who died on Good Friday 2022, aged 97.  A giant in the agricultural world and beyond, he was a farmer first and foremost who extended his interests and influence within the NFU, of which he was President in 1973, before being elected as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and becoming President of the European Parliament between 1987-89, the only Briton to hold the post.  A well-respected and liked member of the Farmers Club for over 58 years, he will be sorely missed and the condolences of all here at the Club are with Lord Plumb’s family at this time.

A short tribute is at The Henry Plumb Foundation.
